PalmOS Stickies

PalmOS Stickies If you own a PalmOS handheld device, you can exchange stickies with it. Check the "Palm support" check box on the PDA options tab, and an extra menu item appears on each sticky right-click menu; "Send to Palm".

Usage

In order to view and edit the stickies on your Palm, you will need to run Stickies for PalmOS. This, and the conduit to transfer stickies between the desktop and handheld is available below under the Shareware concept.

When you run PalmOS Stickies, you'll see a sticky on your Palm. You can now open your favourite IM (input method; keyboard, graffitti etc), and enter text. If you would like a second PalmOS sticky, tap the title bar (the white area at the top), and choose New. The menu which appears also has an entry for a list of your current stickies. To switch to any of these, click on it, and click OK. Your current sticky is automatically saved when you do this, or exit the program.

To remove a sticky, tap the cross in the top-right with it on screen.

As communication between the desktop and PalmOS device is only done when a HotSync® is performed, stickies sent to your Palm are stored on the desktop until the next HotSync®. At this point, the exchange is performed by the PalmOS Stickies conduit.

However, if you tap the down-pointing arrow in the top-left hand corner of the Palm sticky, it will change to pointing upwards, and this sticky will remain on your Palm when a HotSync® is performed.

Desktop stickies are sent to your Palm with the menu item "Send to Palm" which appears when you enable the Palm support as outlined above.

Installation

Download the zip file below, unzip the contents and run setup.exe. This will set PalmOS Stickies ready for installation to your PDA when you next HotSync®, and install the conduit to transfer stickies between PDA and desktop. Once the setup is complete, perform a HotSync®, and then run Stickies on your PDA by tapping the yellow Stickies icon on the home screen.

Notes

The maximum size of sticky you can transfer between your Palm and the desktop is 16kb.
You must have run Stickies for PalmOS on your Palm once before the conduit is able to transfer stickies.

Registration

Stickies for PalmOS is provided under the shareware licence. This means that you can download and run it for free. You'll find that any stickies transferred to/from your Palm will have all their vowels replaced by asterisk characters (*). After you register the product, this restriction will be removed. In order to register, you are asked to pay $5 / 5€.

Please use the PayPal button above to register PalmOS Stickies - when you send the fee, mention that you're registering, and you'll receive instructions for de-restricting the conduit. After registering, you'll be entitled to use this, and any future PalmOS Stickies version without restriction.

There may be a slight delay - I am just one guy working in his spare time from home, not a company with employees to process registrations! This means if I'm away for a day or so, or just having a life away from the computer, it might take a couple of days to get back to you. However, I'm a geek who loves his computer, so 95% of the time, turnaround is within 24 hours. I do prioritise registrations in all the mail I receive, but if you hear nothing from me after three or four days, maybe the spam filter caught the mail from PayPal, so drop me a line to check that.

Note: If you've donated in the past, and would like to run PalmOS Stickies, you need not of course send any money. Just drop me a note, and I'll get you working.
