KB00056 - Hyperlinks don't work correctly in Stickies

Troubleshooting

Stickies does not choose one particular web browser over another, but instead passes the URL you click to Windows, and uses the default Windows browser as specified by you.

This means that if you open the Run dialog (click Start, then Run) and then type in a URL such as https://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/ as shown below, this will do the same thing as Stickies does - it passes the URL to Windows to be opened with the current default browser.

If doing this still brings up a different web browser than you were expecting, then try opening the options in your browser, and telling it to set as the default. You might also go to Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs, and then click the Set Program Access and Defaults button on the left to set your default web browser.

If this still doesn't work, and you're familiar with regedit, then take a look at the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command. That's the value which Stickies will query when you try to call up a link. If you turn the Stickies Logging level up to "debug" and then launch a link, you'll see exactly what is being passed to Windows to launch the link
